Try disconnecting the battery for at least 30 seconds
first with the key off then with the key in the on
position then withe the key in the start position.
Then wait a month and see if it still has that code.
All you got was a 12 did you get a 55 after that?
Either way i wouldn't sweat it unless you start having
problems with you dakota.(stalling, engine cut outs
ect)
