To ALL:
My advise to anyone regarding any car, once you've decided on
make/model/engine/options/etc, is to look at as many as you can.
For older cars like the Charger in question, GO to car shows, talk
with the owners. Ask what it took to get their car(s) in the shape they
are in, they will gladly talk about all the work they've put into them.
Don't you talk about your Dak?
Look for bad body panels, bad/missing trim, for some cars you
can't find new/NOS sheet metal for, can you afford to buy several
parts cars/replacement parts for the necessary pieces, are you
willing to go to a lot of shows, andf search thru used parts for the
missing incorrect pieces that you need?
If the car is 68 or newer, part of the VIN is stamped into the block.
67 & earlier this is not the case.
If the car is considered to be a muscle/collectible vehicle
340/big block etc, or rare (ie Shelby Dak) don't jump into it UNLESS
you've done your homework, OR have a friend/paid assistant with
this knowledge.

Buy Galen Govier's Vin decoding book.
BUT MOST OF ALL, BECOME KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THE SUBJECT.
