Hold on a sec, because I think you'll be unintentionally misleading
people and doing a disservice to John at IP.

You've compared the IP to the K&N Gen 2, then inadvertantly suggested
the filter cone was the main difference resulting in better performance.
I would venture to guess the better performance in the K&N Gen II has to
do with a less restrictive airhat and the fact that it's plastic. I
doubt that the true K&N filter cone on the 360airintakez vs. the IP
setup would be significantly different at all. Both are going to heat
the air charge more than the full K&N setup due to the heatsink of the
metal intake pipe. Until all of these variations have been run on dynos,
it's nothing more than speculation anyway.

IP uses ceramachrome on theirs, and from pics appears to have a slightly
better finish. The warranty deal? I can't recall it ever being an issue
for any of the oil type filters I've owned. Chances are the same
contract manufacturer make them anyway, with the difference being a K&N
label on one. I also like the rounded transition piece in the IP setup a
little better(strictly personal preference). You also have upgrade
options on the IP to a true cold air setup if you so desire(Stage III
setup).

The price is excellent and I'm not trying to trash 360airintakez stuff,
but you have to be careful with those comparisons. Have any of you tried
to work a group buy on the IP through Bernd? If price is the only issue,
then the 360 would get the nod.

Bob
