I have yet to tackle a clutch change, but would like to give it a try when
necessary. What did you use to support the transmission when you dropped
it? I don't have a lift, only jackstands. How much clearance do you need
to drop the tranny and slide it out?

I'd also like to find a decent throw-out bearing. The ones from Mopar
rattle like a couple tin cans tied together. Any other good pointers would
be appreciated.

I have had some experience with clutches, having had to replace mine at
16,000.. There is a huge long story behind that; about the dealer and my
master
cylinder actually failing and not the clutch (only ate the cost of the new
clutch since I installed it), but I digress. Most aftermarket companys, as
does
mopar, are going to give you more or less a 12 month warranty. If you go
with
aftermarket "performance" ones there will be a change in the way the truck
behaves when changing gears. The truck will shift more abrubtly when you are

going into gear. It would be similar to how a shift kit behaves in an
automatic
transmition, if you have driven one. What I ended up doing when I saw the
prices for clutches for my truck from centerforce and what not (around $350
bucks or so at the time) I went over to NAPA and asked if they had any
replacement clutches for my dak. They did and it only cost me $234 with a
LIFETIME warranty. I have 50,000 miles on my truck now and I have no
complaints. Behaves exactly like stock. If you do the clutch change at the
dealer it will cost you more than $1000, if you are somewhat mechanically
enclined I would suggest that you waste the weekend and do it yourself.
