Weird. My Motive-Gear "Trac-Loc" differential has seen plenty of abuse
in the last two years and still works as well as day-one. (Could also
be an installation issue...who know.) ;)

Yes. It's the 'bottom-feeder' of limited-slip differentials commonly
referred to as a "Trash-Lock". They're available aftermarket (though
anyone buying one & installing it needs to have their head examined when
there are better units out there like Auburn and the Trac-Lock's bigger
brother the True-Trac), but are more commonly found as a factory
offering (Jeep has used them for at *least* 20-some odd years). The work
well when they're fairly new & tight, but they wear and loosen up rather
quickly and also require a friction modifier added to the diff fluid.
