It does kinda sound like a short but could still be a bad alt. Check the
wiring underneath your PDU and make sure you don't have insulation that's
rotted away. Check under your dash and make sure of the same, though,
inside the truck isn't nearly as bad as outside. Check all wires going from
the PDU to the alt. or the starter for wear.

Ok I have changed the starter...the batt,but it still wont start with out
the aid of another car. the alt puts out 13 when it runs. the lights on the
dash acts like there is a short for a second right when you turn on the
key.the relays click and then you get nothing...just dead.
anyone have any ideas.....i have to drive a chevy.....help!!!!!!!
