There are guns made of ceramic. These are not picked up on by metal detectors either.

Maybe because there really are all plastic guns. Barrel and all. I've seen
several deringers that were machined out of nylon. There are also paper
cased bullets, and in fact they are gaining popularity with the European
shotgun crowd.
