I know I'm a little behind on this. What I've found out what happens is
that the connector becomes loose. if you look in the holes on the wiring
harness on the truck you will see some silver sleeves. I'm on my third pump
learning this the hard way and I've found out that if I open the clip you
can shrink those sleeves down for a good solid connection, I even showed
this to the dealer and they do it now also when they "put" a new fuel pump
in. it was an expensive lesson to learn. the connection should be tight
but I've found out that after about 20-30K miles it comes loose and I have
to remove the bed to get to that clip to shrink them and it works all fine
after that. I also have a 92 3.9 with the 22 gal tank.

Subject: DML: 4th fuel pump in 1 year
I have a 92 3.9 that just loves to eat fuel pumps. The first one was
replaced
cause the dealer said it was causing my cutting off problem which it
wasnt.ever since then they have been going out one in as little as 3 weeks
and the other the last one after 7 months. Does anyone have any idea what
could be causing this? Would an inline pump work cause im tired of taking
the
tank off the truck? Thanks for any help.
