Mark,

You got the "turtle" in your 4BBL M1? If not, it's a really old trick
(just a simple cone design) that slips into the manifold and helps
restore the bottom performance as well...without a sacrifice on top-end.

Whatever you do, get the 2bbl MPI intake, not the 4bbl MPI. I have the
4-bbl intake and it makes incredible top end power, but at the sacrifice
of low end torque. Back when I bought it in December 1999, it was the
only one available, but now you have a choice. Another interesting note
was that the engine makes peak HP at 5400 rpm but was still making power
at engine cut-off. The bad thing is that the cam makes power from
3000-5400 rpm, a mis-match is what I suspect with the two because the
intake wanted to rev, and the cam wanted to quit. I plan to either
switch to a 2-bbl MPI or finish building my stroker 406, which would be
perfect for the airflow of the intake. If I had a 406, I feel it would
work perfectly, but after experiencing the torque of Sam's motor, I
would rather have the torque.
