I'd like to introduce myself. I just purchased an '89 Dakota Sport with a
3.9v6. The truck is in good shape and the motor runs good. I do have a
little problem with the transmission.
The transmission sees to shift late into overdrive. I believe it might have
something to do with the engine or transmission tempature, actual or sensor
reading. I have to drive for five minutes or more before it will shift into
overdrive. For the most part once it shifts into overdrive it will work
like I think it should. My only problem with this line of thought is the
dash gauge seems to read normal long before it will start working right.
I was wondering if anyone here has had a simular problem, if so am I on the
right track or is something else wrong. Just a note, I have changed the
transmission filter and that did not have any effect.
Thanks for any input.
