ok, thanks Ken, that may have been the color, it looks similar,
unfortunately i never got the name, and the since the dealer told me it
wasn't available on anything newer than a 99 I never really looked into it
any further. It looked like a pearl-type when i saw it up close, but it
could have been the brightness variances that made it look different, as
Andy pointed out.

You mean Dark Amethyst? That was a standard factory color, no special
orders.
Sometimes it looks black or even like Patriot Blue, but that's mostly due to
light/shadow.
