I understand your dilemma, I was there once (2 years ago when I found the
DML).
If the 5224's work fine in your engine (no pinging etc.) keep them in. The
reason most use the 3923's is because they are a cooler plug that somewhat
helps eliminate pinging with slight to extreme mods. I understand that a
while ago the 3923's were original plugs for our engines but with the new
laws concerning pollution etc. they changed to the 5224's. The 3923's work
great in my 97, 318 and to me that is all that matters. If I'm wrong here
then somebody else please chime in !
