The only point that I can think to be worried about is the spline count on
the input shaft and output shaft of the two transfer cases. They definitely
would need to match what your transmission and yoke have for splines.

According to my research - there should be no problems bolting up a newer
transmission from say, a 1996 Dakota 4x4... to a 1989 Dakota 4x4... they
both use the NP231 transfer cases correct?? Anyone out there who can verify
this for me please?
