RE: Gen II transmission problem.. any clues?

There are a couple things that could be causing this problem. First
would be to check the fluid level in the pan. If you haven't had it
changed lately I'd go ahead and have that done. The other possibility
is that the bands need adjustment. I've found that a lot of tranny
shops don't adjust the bands every time they change the fluid even
though the manual recommends it.

Remember when you're checking the fluid, it needs to be at operating
temperature and running.

If you get any replies back to you personally(as opposed to the list),
I'd
be very interested in what people thought was causing this as my '98
does this between 2nd and 3rd. Also quite a bit of metal on the magnet
at ATF changes. Right now I am keeping an eye out for a 44RE to replace
the weaker 42RE.
