Was coming home from work today and as usual, had to drive by the local
dealer. As I came up to the dealer, a red 2001 R/T reg cab was pulling out
with fresh plates. This unit has been on the lot for about 5 months now and
someone just bought it. It just so happened that he was heading the same
direction I was .
There is one intersection that joins a small township road, this township
road has a small bridge that we cross which is just about 150 feet from the
intersection. This is where the guy lost it.
If there is any little moisture on the road (it is cold and wintery right
now, no snow though)when you accelerate hard from the intersection while
making the turn onto the highway, you can get her sideways easily and keep
it there for a bit. This dude got way out of shape, over corrected back and
forth a few times and I thought he caught it for a second, but NOOOOO!!!!!
he stuffed it HARD into the rail front first which spun him rear first into
the other side all the time his foot was into it!!!!
Turns out the dude is 57, just bought the truck as a play toy and promptly
wrote it off!!!!!
I felt major sorry for this guy. I waited for the tow truck and the PD to
show then drove the guy home. The truck is totaled, and his wife was major
CHOKED!!!! It is hard to see a Dakota die like that, but to it's benefit,
it died with the power on!! We need to say a silent prayer.
