    There's no reason you can't do that. Some things to keep in mind
though....

1 - the 9.5:1 shortblock is balanced like a pre-mag 360, not a mag 360
2 - you'll have to re-use the timing cover from your 318

    The 9:1 (service) shortblock won't have these problems and will allow
you to use a regular 360 magnum torque converter and flexplate.
