They ended up doing number 1, without any questions.

Now, I have a question for anyone with a club cab SLT 2001 or
abouts (just to make sure it's not a trim level or year thing): Is
there a piece of plastic trim over the seat slide assembly/rail on
the drivers seat like there is on the passenger seat? I have one on
the passenger side but not the drivers side and I'm wondering if it
ended up in the 'left-over' pile at the dealer....
