I saw a post awhile back about using the parking brake to relieve undue
stress on the tranny...does this apply to Manual transmissions as well?
I ask because I recently replaced my clutch and I have particular habits.
One, I tend to use downshifting as a way of assisting in slowing
down....more out of habit than anything.
Secondly, I routinely leave my truck in first gear when I park it.....my
reasoning is that if the e-brake ever fails...I still have it in gear to
prevent rolling.
Based on these two conditions...am I putting undue stress on my
transmission? Will these habits of mine reduce the life expectancy of the
tranny?
TIA
Kevin
