Hey, just a note with regards to the gas cap issue. In Indiana one of the items tested during the 'emissions test' is the gas cap. On my 87 Charger with 240K miles, this is the only item that caused me to fail (after some mods) the test. And it was due to the gas cap gasket. The guy at the test facility gave me a new gas cap for free and let me keep my old one. The old one is not hidden behind a door and is part of the 'body work'. So I just switched gaskets and reused the old cap.
I have also noticed that the gaskets for many different vehicles are the same. While I am not aware that you can buy the gasket separately, you may go to your local NAPA store and find a inexpensive gas cap for the gasket alone.
