Unless your laws and ordinances are different, it is illegal to park on the
sidewalk, wholly or partially. While our laws here in SoCal state that you
must be within 18" of the curb, even if your curb is rounded, you are not
allowed, at any time, to park your vehicle on it. However, I don't see many
citations issued for that kind of obstruction. I would imagine the law
doesn't come into play until the type of incident that occurred with your
truck. Good luck. I hope it all turns out okay, but, grin and bear it if
you end up having to pay. :-(

Subject: DML: bikes and dak's don't mix!

well, some kid ran into the side of my dak about 2 hours ago...how he missed
a Solar Yellow truck I don't know! Well there is one small problem, I was
parked over the sidewalk. I am going to check tomorrow but I think I am
parked illegal, anyone know for sure? Anyhow he was very nice and came to
the door to tell me what he did. I wasn't home but he return just now to
talk to me. I have no clue what to do. He was very nice and sincere about
it, while talking to him it sounded as though his parents are not nice. the
most important thing is he is ok but now my dak is dented and scratched up.
He is going to come back tomorrow evening with his parents (if they even
show!).

Anyone know what I should do...I know I will put it on homeowners insurance
but who should pay the deductible...his parent or me (maybe I can talk my
parents into it, YEA RIGHT!).
