you might want to experiment with an adjustable coupler (not sure what
they're really called). You can get them at Home Creepo for a few bucks.
One side is left handed thread the other right handed thread with a sleeve
that connects both (kind of like an inner/outer tie rod and sleeve setup).
This could be used to give you adjustability in the angle. Just a thought.
