   It's just a designation that has evolved from this list over time. The
truth is, 87-96 Dakotas are "N" bodies and 97+ are "AN" bodies. The only
thing that changed in 91 as far as the body goes, is the front bumper,
grill, lower valance, radiator support and hood. It's the same cab with the
same fenders and inner fenders mounted on the same frame. The change to the
nose in 91 was necessary for the V8. Dodge need 3 extra inches in front fo
fit the cooling fan. It's was just product evolution, not a redesign of the
truck.

Where weren't just styling cues changes in the front... The front was
extended to make room for clutch fans on the 318. I think everything up
fromt he firewall was redone in 91 (short of the engines themselves).
