Re: trans-go?

The transgo kits details many options. some of which are
towing,street,street/strip, or strip(show off) shifts, also the ability to
eliminate the low gear safey lockout, and even the ability to make it a
manual vale body. A manual valve body would mean that if you have it in 2
from a dead stop, you'll start of in 2nd gear. The kits even come with a
resistor you can solder in to give you firmer torque convertor lockup.
I went with the "street/strip" which simply means you drill one of the hole
in the valve body a little bigger. I eliminated the low gear safety so if I'm
driving 70mph and I drop it into 1st, it will go into first (not that I'd
ever do that), this feature is not good for anyone who might have overcurious
and hyper kids who might accidently knock the shifter down while on the
highway road trip. I like it because I can downshift at 35 and get that quick
"chirp" from the tires, it is also an advantage for towing since you can ride
the gears down hills better. Mine doesn't shift "excessively" in my opinion,
but then I dont think taco bell "fire" sauce is hot but the general public
apparenty does. In other words it really depends on what you'd call
"neck-snapping" its all in the perception. Like, I think my truck needs more
power but my Mom refuses to drive it anymore because its too fast for her.
Anyway back to the transgo, if it was worth my time I'd pull the valve body
out and drill the hole bigger for the "strip/show off" level of shifting. I
don't recall any option for firmer manual shifts and smoother shifts in
automatic mode ( shifter in "D") I think its all determined by throttle
level, the more throttle you're giving it, the firmer it shifts.
If you do install the kit I would recommend doing the filter while you're
there (I mean why the hell not, right?) and also getting the mpar perf
aluminum tranny pan for beter cooling. I haven't put the pan on yet because
I'm waitng for my buddy to weld a reinforced drain plug onto it.
