Even though this happened Sunday night, I figured that I still should tell ya
anyways since I've been busy all week :) Paint the scene, we're coming back
from San Diego, about 9ish pm, w/b on I-10, from the I-15, raining pretty
hard, there was 3 of us in a caravan coming home, Durango in front, me,
Durango in the rear. We were in the #3 lane. Out of the corner of my eye, I
spot a white S-10 coming down an on ramp, kinda fast, I see it, he then
starts to fish tail to the left, then I let off the gas, he then slides to
the right, aiming right at the freeway, then he starts doing 360's, coming
RIGHT AT ME, I put my foot to the floor on the brakes, ABS, Powerslots and
new KO's doing it's thing, he goes RIGHT BETWEEN ME AND THE DURANGO IN FRONT
OF ME!!!!!! I ALMOST ended up ended up hitting his left rear 1/4, but I just
pulled the wheel to the right a bit and missed him by about 3', my many many
years of over the road experience (about 500,000 miles and 9 years) helped
here, he continues spinning, goes all the way to the #1 lane, and there's no
center divider there, just a barrier next to the #1 for construction, all 3
of us go by, and I remember hearing 4 clear and loud crashes, I think he took
out at least 4 cars. No, I didn't stop. I still had an hour drive to go home,
and when I did, I made some brownies (think about that for a sec) :) I will
never look at a white '98+ extra cab S-10 the same way again. It took 2 days
for this event to sink in, and I'm still amazed I got out of it, as was the
folks running with me. I just told them when they asked me how I missed it,
and I told them "I was just paying attention" Simple, but that doesen't
happen here very often as explained above.
