Hey, Andy,
Just another thought...if you DO replace the batts after you've tested them,
& the KE is STILL not working, check the hand unit for a very tiny
adjustment screw...It might be hidden under a small (1/8"+/-) round cover
with adhesive on the back. If there is one, try removing the cover & turning
the adj. screw in 1/8 turn increments in one direction...maybe you can
re-align the frequency...
