Shell to acquire Pennzoil for $1.8 Billion
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20020326/ap_on_bi_ge/shell_pennzoil_10&cid=530
Reading the article, I was unaware that Pennzoil own'd Quaker State, now
Shell, the #2 largest oil maker will own Pennzoil-Quaker State, the #1
largest oil maker and parent of 2000 Jiffy Lube oil change centers.
I rarely see Shell oil for sale in the stores, but when I do, it is
usually the cheapest on the shelf...owning a DAK, I would bypass Shell and
go with Pennzoil, then Quaker State.
Wonder what the 'merger' will do for Shell oil products, what Jiffy Lube
will use, and what the various cars in racing (ex: the #1 Pennzoil car of
Steve Park in Nascar, the #4 car of Sam Hornish/Pennzoil Panther Racing of
IRL, etc) will do re: advertising their sponsors logo.
BTW, I keep hearing how the economy is doing better, yet this 'merger'
looks like it's gonna cost some 1200 jobs to be lost, mostly in the
Houston area.
More DAK content: my 2001 has only seen the oil DC puts in at the factory
(anyone know who makes Mopar's oil) and Royal Purple synthetic 5w30 Racing
oil)
