An intercooler is so you can push more boost. More boost = more prone to
detonation due to the intake temperatures getting hot from the compression
of the air going thru the "heated" supercharger.

Anyways. IF you're running 6 pounds of boost, you probably don't need an
intercooler. If you run more than 9 psi, then it could help you if you
want more boost...
