I've heard from several readers who've read on various websites and message
boards that Dodge will not be putting the new 5.7 in the Ram 1500. I have
yet to hear of any changes in Dodges' plan to offer the 5.7 in the 1500. As
Car & Truck News originally reported, the HEMI will become available in the
Ram 1500 in January of 2003. Availability will be limited in 2003 due to the
fact that the HEMI is the primary gasoline engine for both the Ram 2500 and
3500, so the majority of engines produced will be used in these units.
In more HEMI Buzz, one of my Ace Buzz Patrollers at Dodge's St Louis North
Plant tells me that first Ram 2500 HEMI pilots have already been run through
the line. Interestingly, these units were built with their accelerator
pedals disconnected so that plant employees couldn't test drive them!
What next? No Dakota 5.7 R/T?
