Gas mileage is between 15-16 w/ the 3.92's. Yes, I do have a bed cover. Unfortunately, the aerodynamics I gained was negated by the 125# it weighs (it's fiberglass). I have never towed anything and rarely haul anything heavy. 1st gear is pretty deep w/ the 5 spds (NV3500), so I wuld think that acceleration from a stand still should still be ok w/ the 3.21's.

Good Morning Alex!

I have a couple questions for you. What is your current gas mileage? Do you
have any bed cover? I gained 1.5mpg simply with adding my tonneau cover.
Just something to consider.

How often do you load up the back end (750+ lbs)? Do you ever pull anything?
I currently have the 3.92 gears in my '01. Off the line is very simple with
this gearing. I rarely use 1st. On the other hand, the 3.55 gear in the V6
has difficulty accelerating while pulling a 1200lbs. pop-up camper. I have
never had the 3.55 gears with a V8, but if you do any pulling I would not go
below the 3.55's. The 3.21 are really tall. HTH!

Subject: DML: opinion on 3.21 gears

I am trying to decide if I want to change my 3.92's to 3.55's or 3.21's.
Anybody out there have 3.21's in a V8? What do you think of them? Are they
too high? I mostly do interstate/highway driving. I figure 3.55's would drop
me about 250 rpm @ 75 mph while 3.21's would drop me about 475 rpm. I'm
doing about 2600 rpm @ 75 mph right now with approximately 28" (255/55/17)
tires.
