The filter will only take in as much as the engine needs. Always make
sure you're at least 200-300CFM above the actual engine requirements for
filtration efficiency.

Ok, I'm gonna go with a 14x3 open element and remove the weather
stripping, cheapest option till I can get my Shaker hood. My question
is this, would the K&N X-Stream be too much air? Is just the 14x3 K&N
filter enough flow for my stock 5.9L? Cause if that's enough flow, I
found a red anodized lid that will look pretty good :)
