Al, actually there is a spin on filter and a traditional pan filter. I was
told they are both in the pan. ATP (Automatic Transmission Parts) makes both
of them. I dont know of any other company that makes both filters. As for
a cooler filter, they dont come with one. You can install an inline trans
filter in the lines going to the cooler.

The fuel filter thing has bothered me too. A fuel strainer will only trap
debris in the tank. But as the fuel lines get old, they can "flake" pieces
of rubber into the fuel and that will get trapped in the line most likely at
the injector micro screen.

I am going to look into a filter suitable for the fuel system...
