Re: primary coil misfire

I've actually had the same problem on my '97 Dakota 5.2L for probably a
year, if not longer.. I didn't know about it till I got the OBD-2 scanner
from the group buy... it isn't triggering my Check Engine light, but
whenever I have the scanner check the codes, it ALWAYS brings it up. From
the local garage, I get the "it's not triggering check engine light blah
blah blah".. and I'm not taking it to the dealer.. before today, I replaced
the spark plugs with Autolite 3923's, Accell Ignition system (coil, ignition
system, etc), JBA wires, still does it... On a hunch from one of the other
emails, I try disconnecing my Hypertech PCM... Nope, same problem.. so I
decide to go with one of the other options.. I replace the Cap and Rotor..
which I discovered the tips in the cap were corroded, and tip on the rotor
was pretty black and looked well abused, wouldn't doubt it was the original
on both... Still, no difference.. so I'm at a loss... Any ideas?

Mods:
97 Dakota 5.2L CC 2WD
Quick-D Intake
Hypertech PCM
Gibson Catback
180 Tstat

Things changed to fix Primary coil misfire:
Autolite 3923's
JBA wires
Accell ignition system
Distributor Cap
Rotor

Also, with the exception of the occasional pinging, I don't notice any
performance degradation, the truck runs fine, but don't know why it returns
this code.. It runs better now than it ever has, but I may run even better
with this fixed... been told that I should probably be running high14's low
15's with the setup in my truck, but only time I took it to the track I made
a best of 15.89 with a weight of 4,380 with me in it (only mods since then
are changes to fix coil misfire)
