Bob,
I had the same exact problem on my truck except I was lucky in that the
section of bolt in the lower control arm could be removed by twisting it out
by hand. I broke the first bolt, then lost one. I finally upgraded to a
'high strength' thread lock designed for suspension components. Since using
this threadlock, I have not had the problem again. My next option would
have been putting a nut on the back of it like you mentioned, but I didn't
end up having to resort to that.
