If you are planning for modded truck then go with the 3-inch to the rear for
a single exhaust and 2.25inch sounds good but add a 'X' pipe (Gibson design)
for a cross-over between the exhaust for back scavenging and a balance
exhaust flow. Going with a 2.5 or 3-inch dual exhaust maybe to much and
create lost power to the engine. I currently running a 3" on the little
STREET RAT (Swift GT) and had to replace the rear muffler to a 2.25 due to
the loss HP/TQ from not enough backpressure. By adding the 3-inch chrome
exhaust tip will not hurt the performance since it the inlet and outlet is
right. If I am correct, this application will be good for the 300HP plus
range.
Look for the least bends/kinks or turns in the pipe as possible for any
added flow restriction.
Flowmaster 40, talk to Chris Lambert (Dakota USA) on this subject. He can
testify the noise level and amount car alarms he setoff when coming in the
local neighborhood. Hehehehehe
The Flowmaster 50 is much quieter than the 40 series.

Any thoughts on the following catback setup?
2 1/2" pipe from cat to flowmaster 50 series
dual 2 1/4" (or 2 1/2") out the back, exit behind each rear tire (aluminized
steel)
3" chrome tips
$312.50, installed, out the door
is this going to give enough flow and not leave me short in off-the-line
torque?
the above was the recommendation of a "local legend" in mufflers and
exhaust. i was given his name and he seems to come highly recommended from
many different sources.
