Did you see his statements about " It is rated just under the Purolator
Pure One as far as filtering capability, "and he "received many reports
of these filters failing at high pressures. It seems that the seam where
the backplate crimps to the case can split. "?
I will not run this on my car. The one that failed for me was on a
Honda which really relied on the anti drain back valve.
The K&N filter case is much thicker and has a lot more filter media.
The K&N also has a large fitting on the bottom so you can use a wrench
to take it off. I had a report on it but just changed computers and do
not have the link any longer. I took apart a K&N filter, as I had done
to a Mobil One and the K&N had more than a third more filter media. If
I can recover the link, I will certainly pass it on to you.

Rick:

I wouldn't say that there is nothing special about the Mobil 1 filters.
Yes
they are made by Champion (not the plug maker), but champion makes a
good
quality filter. The mobil 1 filters casing is ungodly strong and it has
all
parts of an excellent filter. i.e.. nitrile seals on the antidrain, etc.
It
contains a synthetic media that is strong and filters quite well without
impeding flow. Check out the mini-mopar study done by Russ Knize.
http://www.minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html#mobil1

I myself use Mobil 1 filters and have not had a single problem with
them,
but if there are issues, I just might make the change.

Can you enlighten me as to why the K&N is superior in every way? I have
not
been able to obtain any independent information regarding this claim.

Thanks
