I attended the HOT ROD SUPERNATIONALS this weekend, the trip to CANFIELD was
supposed to be a vacation to relieve some stress,...... NOT!!!
FRIDAY afternoon while leaving the event,on our way to dinner a new '02
HONDA SUV decides to try to park in
my DAK's bed while I was stopped for a traffic light.
After the impact which felt like a really hard bump, we pulled to the side
of the road so's not to block traffic, the
HONDA suv pulls in beside me at which time I get a look at the damage. The
entire front clip on this poor HONDA
IS DESTROYED from about 6" behind both headlights
forward, both front sections of the frame are shoved thru the bumper cover,
the headlights (not broken mind you)
are pushed back and out, the hood is buckled and everything forward of the
radiator and battery is crushed!
The DAK on the other hand faired a bit better (2) small
dents at the lower edge of tailgate about the size of a silver dollar, and
the Back bumper is completely destroyed, it is no shaped kinda like an "s"
when viewed from the side sighting down the tailgate, it's shoved over to
the drivers side and in to the bed corner just a little.
all in all the damage isn't that bad, my plate frame even survived without a
scratch.
MMMMMMMMMM.......That MBRP CUDA-STYLE
catback exhaust and roll pan kit sounds like a nice upgrade right about
now!!!!!!!!
on another bit of bad luck......The dyno test wound up blowing the belly pan
gasket on the intake.......so I guess I'll be giving Bernd a call this
week......mmmm another $100 to fix this plus the gasket..... I just can't
WIN!!!!
The only good news is the DAK dyno'd 185 RWHP and
249 lbs of RWTQ, the dyno operator swears the Dak
will make an easy 200-225 RWHP and close to 300lbs
of RWTQ once the boost problem is sorted out.
MMMMM.......6 WEEKS TILL CARLISLE........
can we get it fixed in time???.......I think so!!!!
photo's to be posted on my website this week!!!!
