Hi folks,
I was just thinking about the BBQ and thought I would post a quick
message here to solicit opinions or ideas.
Is there anything I can do to make it better? Its only in its 4th
year now, and I'd like to think its gotten bigger and better every
year. (Due mostly to increased interest and attendance.) :-) I
had thought about adding something new every year, but that trend
would be hard to maintain. Anyway, I just wanted to see if there
is anything my fellow BBQers or potential BBQers would like to see
added or done differently?
We've already got the mud pit, the big addition last year. :-)
We've got the map which I hope does a decent job of letting you
know where you are and how to get where you're going, but one of
these days I plan to put some signposts up, almost like intersection
markers, just pointing the way to the various trails, etc. They
might also have an indication of the difficulty level on them.
I also plan to keep opening up new trails, but this takes time.
One of my future plans is to put in a short "mud dragstrip" -
it would be maybe 1/16th of a mile long, and would be complete with
a full christmas tree, electronic timing, etc. Just haven't quite
found the time to start working on that yet. :-) Would the ability
to run 2 trucks at the same time be required, or would it be enough
to run against the clock for the best time? I don't think my big
ol' truck would do particularly well on it, but I'll keep it on
the drawing board if any of you other folks think you'd enjoy it. :-)
Would there be any interest in a steep, slippery hill? There's
a section of bank at the bottom of Slippery Hill that could be
cleared, and its got a pretty good angle to it.
How about a boulder field for some mild rock crawling? I don't
particularly care for crawling myself, just because of the speed
and potential for damage, but if there are enough interested folks
it probably wouldn't be too hard to do one.
Any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated - I don't know
that there will be anything new this year (probably not, given my
lack of time) but I sure wouldn't mind building up some more ideas
for the future. :-)
