Are there any ways to tell whether a head gasket has been blown or not
without taking it all apart? There are compression tests etc you can do
correct?

I would think that a blown head gasket would definitely cause these
problems,
but so would a bad belly pan gasket. I've been through it twice so I,
unfortunately, have a good idea.
