I believe sonic booms happen when you cross the trans sonic barrier
regardless of what fuel you use. Besides the military doesn't give a s@#t how
loud it is, if you have ever lived near an AFB you know. If anything, they
would use a less volitile fuel simply because it is less volitile You dont
hear sonic booms anymore because they dont fly supersonic over land in the US
anymore (emergency situations excluded obviously). Although, they are trying
to reinstitute super sonic flights over certain land areas, unfortunately it
just isnt very cost effective to fly supersonic, metal fatigue and fuel
consumption rise dramatically at those speeds. Hence the reason a Super sonic
flight is $8000+ one way.
