Ok guys,
Here is the deal. My 97 dak just went into the shop today for a 3"
rancho lift. The guys at the shop said that my calipers aren't sitting
straight. They said that the bolts that hold them inplace are stripped and
cocked at an angle. I've had to replace pads on it twice so far.And from the
looks of it, the pads don't sit all the way down on the rotor. They have
about 1/16 of an inch at the top of the pad that never hit's the rotor. The
guys at the shop said that i'd need to get new control arms.. Are the f'n w/
me or can the hole for the bolt be tapped and threaded? They might not be
able to do it there but, i need to know if it's possible.. If not i'll have
to buy new control arms and they are close to 400 a piece from the dealer. I
know that i've heard several things on the list over the past 5yrs about the
bolts being stripped from the factory. But, as i said i've changed the pads
twice and the bolts came out fine. Only problem was them wearing funny. Is
there a recall on the caliper bolts?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Hop
