with all the discussion of the air intakes, there is something we all
have forgotten about. Take the standard air intake tube. Cover it with
a heat repellent fabric sleeve. This will keep the tube about 30%
cooler than without. This means the air charge stays cooler to the TB.
You can get these sleeves out of any race magazine. Even the header
wraps might work. I played with this sleeve when doing some R&D work on
an air intake line last year. The sleeves actually did reduce the temp
about 30%. I don't remember the actual numbers though.
This is a cheap and quick way to keep the air cool in these intake
tubes. unless you are running a SC on the engine, the need for a
monster filter is not there. The standard cone filter with a 3 inch
tube is more than adequate.
