So the idea is to take them to court? Even when the vehicle has 42K miles on
it?

of course not..if dodge were to tell everyone that they know it's bad, less
people would buy their trucks as well as many would go run and get it fixed
and that could get expensive...it's cheaper to hide it and screw the
customer...
it's just like when you bought the truck, they try and sell it as expensive
as possible...then come down. if you try to get it fixed they will say that
the estimate is for 3-5K dollars and they will pay 500 dollars...don't take
it...keep fighting they will pay for all or you take them to court and they
usually will settle outside of court... (at least that's what most have
gotten). Dodge's paint is such a problem that they even have a 1800 number
and a department for just the paint...you'd think it would be cheaper to
just do it right the first time...
hey, btw I started a web page about my problem and would like to document
others as well. I left some info at work so I'll complete it tomorrow but
if you'd like to check the beginnings out go ahead...

yes the paint is bad...that's delaminating of the clear coat...exactly what
is happing to me...
I've done huge amounts of research on this and they do warranty this after 3
year 36K but you do have to fight a bit for it...

I dont have a problem with my paint peeling (yet) but i think its only a
matter of time. I just took my Dak to my local dealer to have him look at
the paint on the hood and front fender. They both have what appears to be a
milky/chalky film under the clear coat. It clears up when the truck is
waxed, but after a good hard rain, its right back again. The body shop
assistant foreman told me that since I didn't buy the truck there and they
don't have really good records on it, they can't say for sure if the paint
was messed up at the factory. He did say that the front fender has had body
work and that since it has and I haven't owned the truck since it was new,
they have no way of knowing if it was damaged in a collision or re-worked
at the factory and thats why they wouldn't even consider covering it under
warranty. He also said that the paint it warrantied for no longer then the
basic new vehicle coverage, 3 years 36K miles. I'm about about a year and
40K miles past all that. I guess for now, I'll just keep waxing and
eventually I'll get the entire truck re-painted anyway.
