Like everyone else it seems, last night I changed the plugs in my 2K QC
4.7 -
Last time, I put in Bosch Platinum +4. This time I put in plain Bosch
Platinum. However, in reading the FSM, I found this note:
"CAUTION: The 4.7L V-8 engine is equipped with copper core ground
electrode spark plugs. They must be replaced with teh same type/number
spark plug as the original. If another spark plug is substituted,
pre-ignition will result."
Huh? I have read where others were using Bosch Platinums, but do they
meet this spec?
On a side note, the engine is running much better today; especially on
morning start-up (changed oil/oil filter/air element also).
In reading through these posts, I realize I did several "no-no" just
like last time - I trusted the factory gap, I did not put anti-seize on
the threads, and I did not lube the O-ring. I guess on Saturday when I
do the brakes, I can go back and redo all that.
I also broke the cover to the air intake element canister (a really dumb
design I might add). It seals, but it is a good excuse to go ahead and
get the Z-tube; but I need to design/fabricate a professional looking
bracket that will fit the mounting holes for the stock intake.
