installing an overhead console

I didn't have the overhead console option on my
truck. Can I install one now? A few years ago,
the general consensus was it's too late because
of the sensor wiring. I'd only want this if the
trip computer worked.

I've got a 97 SLT.

Has anyone added the overhead console to the 97+
truck?
