Haven't experienced anything like this with my 98 V6 CC Sport Auto 4x2.

I have a quick question for anyone with a GenIII and the 3.9L. I am
looking at buying a 2K CC SLT Auto, lease return w/19,600 mi. It is a
beautiful truck and drives great, but when the dealer first started it the
lifters hammered to beat the band, but when the oil pressure came up it quit
and never did it again. His excuse was that it hadn't been started in quite
awhile. This still seems extreme to me, the lifters in my '96 have never
done that. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a problem that started
later? I would appreciate any quick responses since I go back on the road
