Beyond the possibility of poor quality rotors, I've encountered two
situations that can lead to warped rotors. First is uneven torque on the
lug nuts (always tighten in the proper pattern to the recommended torque)
and on some vehicles, I've seen where excess grease from the ball joints
flows directly on the back side of the rotor. If this happens, it seems
logical to me that until the pads wear off the grease, the temperature of
the rotor during braking will be cooler where the grease is due to less
friction. Cool on one side, hot on the other sounds like a candidate for
warping.
