Re: tonneau question - soft -vs-hard

A tonneau will definitely help your mileage. It will also improve your
driveability; I found that crosswinds were MUCH easier to handle once I
put the tonneau cover on - the sides of the bed catch the wind just like
the tailgate causes drag. Before the tonneau, I was steering into
crosswinds and sometimes even fighting to stay on the road.

As I just posted in a reply to Ron, I don't think it'll make an
appreciable difference in gas usage if you go with a hard tonneau over a
soft one, and the very slight increased gas usage will be paid for over
a long period of time, instead of doubling or more your initial outlay
for the cover by getting a hard cover.
