Canuck-
            Sounds like your Dakota may be running a little lean, my Charger
used to do the same thing with the THRUSH mufflers it had. I had to rejet to
richen things up, but it still did it just not quite so loudly. I am not
sure what the fix will be on your '00 4.7 as they are EFI and my Charger had
a HOLLEY carb.
