I've found if you wax the wheels a few times a year the brake dust and rust
stains won't stick. You can wash it right off with car-wash soap.

Good job Tim but very labor intensive. For the polishing task you might
check out Eastwood. They sell various buffing/polishing pads and compounds
that you can use with an electric drill. Did it many times on my old
Centerlines and it's very easy. Eastwood also has a nice video of the
techniques.
Did you use 3M fiber sanding pads for the sanding part? Much easier than
actual sandpaper.
