Here's another vote for newspaper (newsprint) on auto glass, inside and out.
It absorbs water or glass cleaner as good as paper towels, it's cheaper, and
it doesn't streak.
 For removing bugs, mud, etc., try a plastic scrubbing pad. The ones I use
are "Doby", 3x5 inch sponge wrapped inside a nylon mesh scrubbing pad,
packaged in a cardboard container. Most supermarkets should have them in the
cleaning section. The ones with a green or maroon abrasive pad bonded on one
side are probably too coarse.
